Grievance gathering
Listening to the public and translating it into collective action
What do people care about in your community, neighbourhood or industry? This is what Your Party should care about too. Many socialist parties around the world have used the tactic of "grievance collection" to build relationships and learn how to act together.
In Britain, many people feel un-listened to by politicians and the government. They feel that the system is unchangeable. So, instead, they point the blame at fellow members of the working class, like migrants or trans people. But what are they blaming them for? Gathering grievances means listening to the heart of the matter, not the surface level, so we can organise as Your Party to identify our shared interests and decide how to change the system, together.
How
Coming soon: a guide to collecting and acting on grievances.
There are many ways to gather grievances and then act on them, such as:
- Doorknocking to ask people what matters to them and what needs to be dealt with
- Street stalls and surveys
- Public assemblies
- Online surveys
Grievance collection builds power when it is coupled with collective action.
